As this is an election year we have decided to hold a virtual AGM on November 10, 2021 from 9:30am to 11:30am AST. We are extremely excited to have an opportunity to bring the membership together, albeit virtually, and to offer an opportunity to hold an election to fill director positions on the AWLE Executive board.
AWLE Board Director positions are four year terms and our elections are held biennially. The positions are stagnated to ensure there isn’t a complete Board turnover and to maintain corporate knowledge.
This year three director positions are up for election:
Membership Coordinator:
The Membership Coordinator, shall perform, among other things, the following:
Promote AWLE membership among Law Enforcement agencies |
Collect membership and fees |
Receipt members and forward fees to treasurer |
Keep an up to date list of members in good standing and provide an up to date list to Board Members and the Annual Conference Committee as required. |
Send notices to those who owe dues and correspond regularly with members as required. |
Write articles for the Notebook and website, promoting AWLE Membership and it’s benefits |
Keep a current mailing list of membership |
Select and order a new membership gift yearly for distribution at the annual training conference. |
Exhibit at Annual AWLE Conferences, and promote and collect membership (booth) |
Attend all AWLE Executive Meetings and AWLE Conferences, whenever possible. |
Media/Conference Liaison:
The Media Relations Director and Publicity & Promotions Director, shall perform, among other things, the following:
Promote the Corporation and its advancement by regularly supplying written articles for publication in law enforcement journals, magazines, as well as, promote the Corporation and its objects in any manner deemed appropriate to special functions of the organization, etc. |
Represent the Corporation and its objects to any media requesting such information. |
Liaison with the Annual Conference Committee to promote the Conference and the AWLE Organization. |
Assist the President the Board as required. |
Attend all AWLE Executive Meetings and AWLE Conferences, whenever possible. |
Notebook Editor
The Notebook Editor, shall perform, among other things, the following:
Prepare and manage the publishing and dissemination of the official publication of the Corporation, ‘The Notebook’. |
Edit items submitted for publication. |
Facilitate marketing and advertising. |
Assist the President and the Board of Directors as required. |
Attend all AWLE Executive Meetings and AWLE Conferences, whenever possible. |
AWLE Constitution
4.02 Qualifications
In order for an individual to be a director, the individual must:
- be an Active Member in Good Standing;
- be 18 years of age or older; and,
- not have the status of a bankrupt
All nominees are to have their nominations prepared, signed by two active members in good standing (email supporting the nominee is acceptable) and submitted to the AWLE secretary via email: secretary@awle.org by October 31, 2021. The nominee is to also include a short bio and statement outlining why they seek the position so the membership can make an informed decision on whom they wish to support.
The bio’s will be circulated to the Membership on November 1, 2021 and any late submissions will only be entertained until November 3.
The AGM will be conducted via MS Teams.
